about

After a seven year hiatus caused by the onset of Focal Dystonia, Wirral based singer/songwriter/ guitarist Doug Abraham is back with a vengeance with his new album Better Late Than... Featuring some of the top players on the circuit today including Paul Walsham and Wayne Proctor on drums, Dave Hadley Ray and Paul O’Shaughnessy on Bass and Paddy Milner on Keys it has already been garnering rave reviews and airplay aplenty on rock radio. "After so long out with injury it's great to have such a positive response" enthused Doug "now it's about getting out there and gigging it and I can't wait"
Initially involved in the project was legendary Cream/Jack Bruce writer/arranger Pete Brown (Sunshine of your love, I feel free, etc) "Working with Pete was fun, your always gonna learn a lot from people like that, basically I had a whole bunch of tunes to let him hear, Pete picked the songs he liked the best, we fine tuned them and then I went into the studio to record them."
Doug has been performing for over fifteen years as a professional in one capacity or another. He has toured and recorded with various bands, the main one being Free Parking of which he was a member for six years."I did the instrumental thing for a while, then it was the funk-rock inspired Free Parking gig" Shortly after the demise of Free Parking Doug’s Focal Dystonia, a debilitating hand condition deteriorated to the extent that he was unable to play at all and was forced to put his career on hold. While still able to maintain his vocal chops he spent the next seven years attempting to cure himself of FD, “I put a hell of a lot of effort in and had to force myself into a totally different mindset”
The result of this new mindset is the fantastic new album Better late than... Coupled with an eclectic list of influences, it’s certainly a varied listen, but, as Doug says himself, he never lets you forget that the song is indeed king.
